My mother in law is only 14 years older than me. Yes that close, why? Because my husband is 8 years younger than me (2nd marriage for both of us).

My inlaws got married when she was 17, the day after she graduated h.s and my hubby was born exactly 1 year later. So, my mil is just 18 years older than I am. But she always came off as much older, my mom was 30 years older than I am but my mom was always much "younger" than my mil. Age is funny thing. My bff is 74 and I think of her as ageless, she doesn't hide her age but she never morphed into an "old lady". She just kept being herself. My mil is 75 but definitely an "older woman" in mind and spirit and how she views the world. When I look back, she was old at 50.
