I am not a phone talker and hate chit chat!! I call when I have something to say and expect the same from others. I do not want to be someone's entertainment.
Have a relative that can talk for hours about things and people that I know nothing about nor care to...so boring! I try to get off the phone as quickly as I can. I think she is just bored to death and wants someone to fill up her time!

Phone calls with two of my friends can last a couple hours. I think my record was a four hour call. One of those friends is a "phone a holic". Two other friends and I only phone each other occasionally to catch up and those would be half hour calls.
My sister in law who lives in another State has a birthday coming up shortly and I will call her this week. Our calls are usually about an hour.
When I was younger and had a lot going on, my friend and I who worked together could get on the phone after dinner and talk for a couple hours even after being together all day at work.

A friend of mine here in LA has a twin brother who lives in Chicago. He's a stockbroker and his brother is a doctor. They talk on the phone a LOT .... and I bet they text a lot, also.

when you are in a long distance relationship OR when you have kids that live at school, it can be long conversations of an hour plus.
i kind of think it is "sweet" that two brothers can be on the phone for hours. they must be very close.

Of my three dearest friends who passed away due to breast cancer, one was a talker and loved talking on the phone. We would talk for several hours, and that was just the first call of the day. Many times she would call 2 or 3 times a day but I will say this, we always found many things to talk about. Talking was interrupted with laughter because she was very funny and had the most infectious laugh of anyone I ever knew. I miss those lengthy phone calls very much. ![]()

@sunshine45 My sister would disagree with it being sweet. As I said they don't talk sports, movies, kids etc.
It's politics and my BIL gets wound up and the more irked he gets the louder he gets and then the swearing starts. The don't live in a house that has an east wing and a west wing, you can hear him all over.
It's not sweet.

Well, it's down to my sister and I now, and depending on what's going on with us, that usually determines how long we talk. We email and visit, live close to each other, every few days. It works for us.

My mom and I talk every evening for anywhere from 5 minutes to 30 minutes, but usually its more likely to be about 10 minutes. I just check on her and chat about our day.
My daughters and I text usually every day or every other day. I facetime with my grandkids usually twice a week..I can talk to my sisters or sister in law for about 30 minutes, then I am ready to hang up.
I used to be able to talk for hours when I was younger, but I think getting older, I am just not talking as much or as long!

After about 15 minutes I tune out, my eyes glaze over and it starts to sound like the teacher in Charlie Brown!.
