Re: How Have You And Your Spouse Always Differed?

[ Edited ]

He's an introvert; I'm an extrovert.

He's up at 5, cheerful, ready to go, and ready to discuss whatever. I'm groggy and don't tell me anything or I won't remember it. (Definitely a night person!)

He has always "decorated" the outside; I do the inside.

He's from the North and likes cold weather; I'm from the South and the hotter it is the happier I am!

When our children were little, I was the disciplinarian. He usually didn't have time, and when he did DD would look at him with her look and he would cave!

He hates waiting at restaurants; I'm OK with it.

After my friends met him when we were dating, they were surprised. I had always dated "life of the party" type guys. They didn't think it would work out! But as I tell my DD ---

He's not nearly as much of a music fan as I am. He likes new stuff when I play it, but he never looks for new music on his own. He does not buy music, he strictly listens to the radio, which I never do. I would be happy to never hear anything on the oldies station or classic rock station ever again. I do not understand how people can be happy just listening to the same thing you heard in High School for the rest of your life.

My husband is laid back and I am not. As in nothing bothers him and he is kind of shy, and I am the worrier and the talker.

Different as night and day.  About to celebrate 50 years together.  We are best friends.  We focus on how we make it work, not how it breaks down..... best advice for a happy marriage.

We're very much alike.

We even finish each other's sentences sometimes.

My kids are always rolling their eyes at us because we're so corny and mushy.  LOL

We've been married 48 years, and I have a hard time thinking of anything we DO have in common....we both like to eat, that's about it ! LOL....but hey, we're still together and we laugh at the same goofy things 😊

Primarily spending.  I spend more than he does.  I am very calm and he rattles easily.

We balance each other in these areas.
