In the long run, does it really matter?
The general intent seems to be the same.
Whether the hearts stay or go doesn't influence my posting in any way.

I use them when I agree with the post.

I think we all have to interpret the hearts based on the particular discussion, post, and poster... most of the time I think I pretty much know why someone has hearted one of my posts. And I admit, it makes me feel good to think that something I've said has either helped someone, given them information, just added something good to a discussion, they agree with me, or I just made them laugh! ![]()

I heart a post when the content resonates with me. It can be text or a photograph.

Posting on something that " doesn't interest you. "

I think I used them wrong. I sort of used them for 2 reasons, to show agreement with a post and also to let the poster know, I had ansered their post, even if I didn't agree with it
I like the feature that lets you know someone has responded to what you say. It would be nice if there were something to use ,other than a heart, for posts you don't agree with

Mostly because I agree with a post but sometimes, like yesterday and today, the heart also represents a celebration of the news contained in a post.

When I agree with that Post or if it just puts a smile on my face due to the content of happy news ect.....
I believe the hearts are for fun and we can still have a life while having some fun on the boards.

I don't think there is a "wrong" way to use hearts. This is just like other social media websites, everyone uses them differently at different times for diffferent reasons. I think they have them here because so many other forum-type sites use either hearts or something similar. "Hearting" seems to be "in" now (or whatever the newest slang is for that!).

Your post doesn't make any sense at all.....if you read all the replies you would see that everyone pretty much uses them for the same reason.
If you don't care about the hearts like you said.....why are you still reading here and posting? I don't get it.
