I just Googled whether broken glass can contaminate a recycling truck and found out that it definitely can. I found a good article explaining how broken glass and other things can contaminate the truck. I can't post the link, but it's on greenamerica dot org, and the article is titled "The Road To Recycling Contamination." I've decided to take my glass bottles to a glass recycling center instead of putting them in my recycling bin.

What I wonder is how they separate all of that broken glass from the paper. We can’t put glass in our recycling.

I surely don't worry about glass articles I put in the big recycling bin gets broken. Have you ever seen the big truck empty the recycling bins? Lifts in way up and all of it crashes into the truck. There is nothing one can do to prevent glass from breaking. Who worrys about that anyway??
