I use to make tea in my coffeemaker. 12 cups and use 2 tea bags (that's all you need). You will have med/full flavored tea. I pour into plastic container and let it cool and then refrigerate. I own a different type coffeemaker now so I can only make 5 cups. I like Twinings tea.

I grew up in Arizona, and we always made "sun tea" in the summertime.
My mom had these 1/2 gallon glass jugs, and she'd fill them up with water and drop in 2-3 tea bags, then place them on the patio in the sun.
If she did it in the morning, by late afternoon it would be ready. She'd put them in the fridge. If they weren't cold enough by dinner, we'd just add ice.
Lots of people did this when I was growing up.
We always had at least two jugs in the fridge. We drank it all the time.
Now I never drink iced tea.

Somewhere I read a long time ago that boiling the tea bags makes it bitter.
My easiest method to make iced tea is boil water in the microwave in a 4 cup measuring cup (7 minutes here for high altitude).
Take it out and steep 4 family size, or equivalent in regular size tea bags, any kind, brand, flavor. Let it sit at least 20 minutes. By the time you take it out of the microwave and add tea bags, the water has stopped boiling. Add sugar if wanted.
Then add to a pitcher of cold water and ice, about another 4 cups, more or less depending how tea-ish you want it. Then serve, more ice or not.
I used to make iced tea several times a week, but had to cut back on caffeine and sugar.

My favorite way to make iced tea is to make it via the Sun Tea method. I put maybe 6 Lipton (must be Lipton) tea bags in a big glass jug, fill with water (bottled) and sit it in the sun for a few hours. Take the bags out, and chill. Then pour into glasses with ice and a lemon slice.
I don't like herbal tea iced, but just bought some loose mango black tea at a specialty tea shop and am going to experiment with that for iced tea this summer. I'm getting a little bored with my plain tea.
If I'm lazy, not that it's that hard to make iced tea, I will buy the Pure Leaf iced tea at the store. I find it to be very close to iced tea you make at home...and it comes in unsweetened green tea, unsweetened black tea, lightly sweetened lemon tea and a sweeter tea probably similar to the sweet tea in the South.

Every time I made my own iced tea I thought it was horrible. I used to buy diet decaf tea they selll here in PA (in a jug like milk it comes in) But I have cut it out now. I do love hot tea though with a tea bag. I know it doesnt make sense if I like home made hot tea why dont I like homemade iced tea? i have no clue why! lol.
