(just curious)
Might as well have a Coke.

I take one car, add about $1.06 and one McDonald's, and voila! A tall glass of iced tea made just the way I like it.

Back when we were growing up, our mom only made iced tea in the summertime. She always added sugar & lemon, and quite often, a few sprigs of mint from the garden.
So that's how I prefer it....though I don't think I've made it for 30+ years!

Dietary restrictions make having tea with sugar prohibitive for myself. If the tea itself is very high quality, it will have a natural sweetness to it. I order a lot of iced tea in restaurants and it varies greatly when I order it unsweetened.
When I make iced tea, I boil the water, add lots of ice and use quality tea from a tea shop. Orange pekoe is a favorite.

@sabatini. I LOVE fresh mint in my iced tea, especially on a hot summer day!

I boil two quarts of water. Then turn heat off and add about 8 tea bags (3 black, 5 flavored tea in a variety of flavors) and steep for about 20 minutes. Pour in two quart container, add 1/2 cup Splenda and ice. It's never bitter. We like it flavored and I'll use different flavors each time. I usually use Celestial tea bags.

I start with hot brewed tea, and add ice, but it always tastes bitter....any suggestions? Thanks!
In my opinion, if you let the water boil first, take it off the burner, then add your tea bags and let it sit for about 30 minutes, it's not quite as bitter. I also used to work at a fast food restaurant that would put a spoonful of baking soda in the tea to cut the bitterness. Has anyone ever done that?

@sunshine45 just mentioned the baking soda. I might give that a try but without the sugar.
