Re: How Do You Get Rid of Cooking Smells?

Simmer orange peels in a pot, or slow cooker.  Can add lemon peels, too, but only orange peels work just fine.

Can add spices, such as cinnamon sticks, cloves, etc., if you like that scent.  Even pumpkin pie spice.

Use your stove hood fan while cooking.  I use Lysol Disinfectant Spray and it gets rid of most all household smells.

Re: How Do You Get Rid of Cooking Smells?

Prevailing winds at my house here on a ridge are from South to North MOST of the time, the other times, from North to South!!!

My home is oriented East-West....

There is ALWAYS a wind here on the ridge top....so...

I just open windows on both side of my home, and let er rip!!

Yesterday it was 83 degrees here in Western PA , winds were howling like a gale,  and I made salmon for lunch....NO problem!!!

I could hear things being blown off counters and the wall calendar flapping and the  lists on the fridge getting an airing out!!!

Best part of living here in the nice months, ( NEVER need AC),and worst part in the cold weather when it comes from the north!!!

@Lucky Charm

Me too....Open up in winter....( but not on zero degree days, just above 30 which is a lot here in PA).

I never thought it was a good thing to keep rebreathing the same air for weeks at a time...and I'm only one person....

I LOVE fresh air...you can keep your air filters and purifiers and sprays...open the winders works for me!!!

You should see my two indoor cats when the wind blows thru the house.....Their eyes are all black, the slink along thier bellies from one room to another, afraid of the sound the wind makes.....and if it's the first days of spring, all those interesting outdoor odors drive them nuts!!

Last night, first time for peepers here...They must have woke up from thier long winter naps in the damp very warm humid  83 degree winds we had here all day yesterday...I LOVE the sound they make...you know spring is here!!

( Peepers are tiny frogs that live in the woods and when they come out, they scream thier mating calls in a very loud high pitched cacophony that only peepers make!!! LOVE.IT!!!!)

Re: How Do You Get Rid of Cooking Smells?

cannot stand cooking odors!!   close the bedroom doors, use the celing fans...clean my oven a lot and avoid frying food on the stovetop . open doors and windows. some odors still linger, like roast chicken and anything made with curry powder.  ugh!!

at this point i'm ready to quit with the big meals, much as i'm happy to make nice dinners. DH is on a keto type diet so his meals are eats lamb and steak he grills outside, with a salad and avocado or plain steamed veggis.

Could you install a vent fan?  Not horribly expensive.

Re: How Do You Get Rid of Cooking Smells?

I hate the lingering smells of cooking and sometimes it's worse than others. I've gotten to where I both turn on my exhaust fans and I burn a strong smelling candle at night after dinner is over. Right now it's B&BW Pumpkin Pecan Waffles. yummy! Does the trick for us
