I just read an article on NY Pizza - it is much larger 18" to 24" in diameter so a slice is quite big and you can't really hold it and eat it without folding
I always thought everyone folds their pizza - of coure when I have eaten at Pizza Hut - the pizzas are quite small even when you order a large and I dont fold that bc the crust is thick.
I never knew only my New Yawk is folding - hey what about you, Jersey
guess it is the same with soda or pop - i call it soda

I like my pizza crusts thin and crispy. If a slice is so floppy and greasy that is has to be folded, I won't be eating it. Here in the Midwest I see some folks eating pizza with knife and fork, but very few. I don't think I've ever seen anyone folding a pizza in half to eat it.
I used to eat pizza any way I could get it. To me, pizza doesn't taste as good as it used to and I'm too fussy about where I will order it.

@Yahooey I love this, he puts two slices of pizza, one on top of the other, folds it, and eats it!

@Yahooey I call it Soda and good point about the size of the slice. Your pictures shows how much larger it is.

I'm from NJ, I fold. If the pizza is made right, you'll pick up the slice and the tip will droop. If it droops, all the toppings come off. Gotta' fold it,.

My mom and both her parents are of Italian ancestry (my grandfather immigrated from Rome, my grandmother from Naples)...We do NOT fold pizza nor eat it with a fork!!!! We take a slice, and eat it starting at the bottom and work up to the crust...Neither do we dunk our pizza in Thousand Island dressing, nor put pineapple on our pizza!!! 😱
( Where's my paeseno, "Laura" to back me up... haven't seen her around lately...hope she's OK.....)

I'm from the northeast, but not New York, we have never folded our pizza.

a "regular" neopolitan pizza is eaten with a knife and fork and it is not even cut into slices.
a roman style pizza is cut into squares or rectangles and weighed. depending on how big the piece is, that is usually eaten by holding it in your hands.
there are many areas (Piazzas in particular) where you cannot eat and walk around at the same time.
I was once in a restaurant in Germany that had pizza. It was several of us at a table. We ordered a pizza. Got the pizza and it was just one big round pizza, not cut up at all, and they gave us one fork, one knife, and one napkin.
There we sat, a bunch of boneheaded Americans, to figure that one out.
This was in the 70s, so that might be relative.
Similarly, I recall one time in Spain requesting iced tea. What they did was to make a cup of (hot) tea and put an ice cube in it.
Being that I'm a polite sort, I just said 'Thank You' and left it at that.
So many things we assume, eh?

Flat or folded! If anyone ate it with a fork & knife here....well let's just say a lot of weird looks would come your way if not a sarcastic comment. I'll admit I'd stare, but keep my comments to myself! I'm in PA, eastern part of the state.
