Re: How Did Others on East Coast Fair Out

Update from earlier post.  We lost power for a few hours in my part of Nassau County.  It just came back on - hope it stays on.  One tree down in our complex.  Now the sun is shining and it is less humid.

NC landfall on Southern Outerbanks, Oak Island & Southport, piers, roofs, flooding, Wilmington and Eastern  @ 1/3 of  of state w/o power. Winds at 90 to 100 MPH.  Central part of state winds 40 to 50 mph, trees, and roofs.  Sadly 4 deaths.

I am in north NJ.  Lost power for an hour but it came back on.  Cable is out though.  I am lucky to have electricity.  I heard on the radio that a million customers have no power in NJ.

Re: How Did Others on East Coast Fair Out

We took a direct hit here on the SE Carolina coast. Fires and tornadoes (I slept through the one that touched down in our town).

We had lots of debris but no structural damage (we took that in '18 with Florence).

I'd move in a heartbeat but DH loves coastal golfing. He gets to clean up, then.

I live in central, coastal NJ and was very lucky to not lose power or have any damage.  Towns all around me, and even areas of my own town, have power outages and considerable damage from downed trees and floods.

Re: How Did Others on East Coast Fair Out

I'm in southeastern PA (near the NJ border) and we had heavy rain & stong winds.  Some large branches on my lawn and trees in the neighborhood down.  We lost power for 2 hours in the afternoon.

The local hospital might have had a small tornado.  There were 4 or 5 cars that got turned upside down and stacked up on one another.

Re: How Did Others on East Coast Fair Out

One thing about this - it was a fast moving storm.

I'm inland SE PA. The only thing we had was a veritable  rapids outside our front door in the alley way. Also some puddles of water in the downstairs living room & kitchen area. (We do not have a basement.) Most of my closet towels were able to soak things, but I needn't have steamed my floors a couple days ago.

Weathermen were way off on this forecast in my area.  We were supposed to get at least an inch of rain and moderate winds.  We got none of that.  It rained heavily for maybe 2 minutes and that was that. No where near an inch of the badly needed rain. We have the makings of a drought here.  It was also supposed to be windy today. Nope, wrong on that prediction also. Just a slight breeze.
