Sitting at work and so disliking my job and my phone rings for the 103rd time (literally I've taken that many calls). I am sooo tired and stressed from this job. But lucky for me the call is from my daughter. She said "sorry to bother you Mom, but I just wanted to say thank you for being such a great parent to me. I can never, ever tell you how grateful and blessed I truly am and I love you will all I have."

I was astounded. What prompted her to call was due to her work. She's working to get her masters and she is currently in a teaching program. Her class is derived of kids in the 9th grade but have life issues. She's been teaching the class since September and I guess she just got to a point today where it's caught up with her and she does not understand why there are parents out there that treat their children so cruel. Some come to school in the same clothes for 2/3 days, other have not eaten in days, one child just learned that he has a genetic disease that has taken the lives of all his relatives -- all he has is his mother and she's dying. She hates that these parents are so verbally abusive ... one parent told the child not to bother coming home today after school. Some are even homeless. She said these students of hers are beautiful, smart, and valuable people and deserve more.

I told her that I was sooooo very proud of her and not to get discouraged because even if she shows one child how special and important they are and gives them something to work toward, she could make all the difference. She could turn their life around.

I hope I helped her a little. I really didn't know what I could say other than I could not be prouder of her and her work will pay off.

Thanks for listening to my story!
