While times may have changed, Barbie remained paralyzed in her problematic past – a misogynistic world of pencil-thin waistlines, ice cream shoppes, spending all night fretting with her hair and make-up and trying to prevent not-quite-boyfriend Ken from turning gay like we all assumed he was going to do.

But no longer! Barbie’s latest ad campaign suggests that Mattel may have finally figured out what little girls of the new millennium want.

I know Barbie didn't pursue Blue Collar professions.  However, why not.  She was launched when people admired discipline and glamour.  Barbie was slender, attractive, and did fun and glamours things.  Times changed and now she can do many things.  I think it depends on what the girls would imagine their Barbie interested in doing and being.

Barbie Secrets: 

She did maintenance on her own car.  Ken had no clue!

She did maintenance on her own home.  No men around. 

She did all her own furniture construction with the help of Skipper.

She also made her own jewelry. So no one else would have the same style.

She did much more, but she kept it to herself.  She is a true woman!
