Thanks for all your responses. Guess I'm dating myself in this regard. I had a nice relationship with the previous owners and hope to have the same with the new owners. I was never thinking of baking anything. I may forego the gift idea.

@Shanus That's a nice thought. We personally would
never accept home baked food from people we didn't know. Who knows if they are clean, sick, etc.

Those people are foolish. They would rather trust a for profit restaurant with food prepared by strangers. At least homes with cats are free of mice which no restaurant is. Mice and rats are a continuing problem for restaurants

When we moved into our new home just last year, our neighbors came over introduced themselves, and bought over a plate of homemade chocolate chip cookies!
My husband would not eat them, because he doesn't eat food from anyone he doesn't know, but I ate some of them-they were great.
They have been very good neighbors!!! I like the idea of a bakery item...Or at this time of year, plant or flowers!

Years ago there was an organization called, Welcome Wagon. I think it was a non-profit extension of city council, but I may be wrong about that. They would deliver a welcome basket that included coupons, gifts from local businesses, and a booklet of helpful information to new residents. I don't know if it still exists.

I am that person. I do not eat anyone else's food. Period.

@Linda0215 Well I do have to say he does eat at our house when he visits and he eats in restaurants.

I should explain myself. I will eat at people's homes where I know they are clean. I won't eat anything from some random person where they made it at home. Blame my mother. She made me neurotic.
