House alarm remote on keys-as dumb as it sounds?

My alarm system has shipped. A big selling point was a remote I could add to my key ring.

To me that is the dumbest idea I have heard for awhile. If my purse was stole, the thief would have my address, house key & the remote to disarm my home alarm system.

Am I missing something?
