Their graffiti doesn't generally indicate gang activity the way it does here. So you will find graffiti in fairly nice parts of major cities in France, Italy, Spain, etc.. It's often political in nature or sometimes romantic. {#emotions_dlg.blushing}

I was in Trier, a city in Germany founded by the Romans.

There is graffiti on the aquaducts,,,from the time the Romans ruled there, over 2,000 years ago!

Lots of ancient graffiti all over Europe. In Berlin some of the fanciest buildings have been painted on by artists and they're really cool.

Re: House Hunters International

There are places to live cheaply in Europe, but it won't be in any of the great cities or regions. Most people want to be within walking distance of everything from restaurants, stores and schools to clubs and bars for the young singles. It's gonna cost ya. As the saying goes, location, location, location.

One of my European friends has a ton of money ($700 plus hotel rooms, $60 meals before wine...etc.), but when her family bought a home in France, they moved just a smidge out of the chic area and saved a bundle. She'd rather put the money toward lavish vacations than plant the family in the middle of the hot spots that get all the tourists in the summer.

What you have to remember is that the American dollar is very weak right now so $2500 is not that much in Euro's or Pounds.

Also most of the shows are set in capital cities. $2500 would get you a tiny apartment in London or Paris but a lovely house in a small town outside the capital.

The American Dollar is doing quite well actually. The Pound used to cost over $2, and the Euro was at $1.55 or so. Both are well under that figure right now even with Russia, Brazil, China, Australia and others trying to dump the USD. That could change of course, but right now it's not bad at all.

Now where we've taken a real beating is against the Australian Dollar.

Re: House Hunters International

$2500 is between 1600-1800 pounds and euro's so that is not a lot for a wonderful place to live. Imagine trying to find a great place in a sought after area like New York City,Boston or LA for that.

I wish they'd discontinue HH International. I'm really not interested in rentals in Paris or home in Roatan. Many of the authentic European places are hovels.

Re: House Hunters International

To me, it's very interesting. It's seeing a little bit of areas and architecture that I will never get to see for real. Sort of like, seeing how the other half lives, as they say. I know not everyone dreams of having a little flat in London, or a cute apartment in France, or a wonderful villa in Italy, etc., etc., but I do! It will never happen, but I read and see movies and think --- awww, what if? Yes, a lot of the places are terribly expensive and these people have money. But, that's t.v. I enjoy the show. As far as these house shows go, I think it's actually my favorite.
