Hosts don't live the same as most of us. It's simply a fact. I'm trying really hard to stay on budget, but occasionally will splurge. I'm sure most hosts would laugh at my definition of splurge (a $70 Olive Garden meal for Valentine's Day).

Mama told me it wasn't "polite" to talk about money, politics, or religion...

The host this am with Kim Gravell made a comment about how silly her husband was for complaining about the price of eggs..she adds " if you want eggs just buy eggs" what world do your hosts live in? My food prices have doubled! I can't afford QVC prices unless rock bottom clearance. Another host acted like QVC prices were cheap..30 to 50 bucks for a T shirt?? Really?
This morning I tuned into the Valerie Spring/Easter replay show...some cute things. I mean, I love this time of year, so it's always tempting to "think" wouldn't that be cute?
But the prices...(some not terrible but)...I have to remind myself..
a) I don't need another chotchke to store
b) More batteries to buy and keep up with!
c) HomeGoods has plenty for half the price
d) Even at HG...I don't need anything!!
Was just going through my CVS slip from yesterday...two rolls of paper towels $7.00 (and that was with a 25% off coupon!)...that's insane compared to what it was not long ago.
Another note...I was clicking around this morning at Q1, 2, 3 replays...Shoe Shopping with Jane...a pair of Vionics (always pricey) but basically still flip flops $90 plus s&h.
I'm spending on average $40-50 more at the grocery store and not coming home with that much. And I have things that need updates in my home, so that's where $ will go. Not on a new bunny.
@Bstswm Hosts gotta sound upbeat about all this...and they make good salaries, but I totally get your point...NOone wants to hear "no big deal" at this point. It IS a big deal...something's gotta give. Everything is SO inflated now. It sux.

@SilleeMee I hear you...we all have to make new choices right now. For me...I struggle to get enough protein (less carbs) in my diet, as I don't love a lot of meat, and don't cook much seafood at home....so eggs a few times a week is my way of getting protein in the morning. But it IS ridiculous...the eggs I used to buy, organic/pasture raised, are about $8-9 a dozen last time I looked. I have been able to buy pasture raised (don't think they're organic) at Trader Joe's for about $3.59...so that's what I've been doing. But TJ's is not near me, so I go maybe once a month.

I was brought up that way too but that went away a long time ago.

Those Trader Joe eggs are a find. I just discovered them the other day. Best price I've seen.

Some posters here always complain about the price of necessities while also posting about many jewelry and fashion purchases. So I think that would be "if you want that gold bracelet or fashion item buy it".
So how is that any different? I am talking about making choices regarding spending, not about anyone struggling to afford necessities.

What's ironic is both host and Kim constantly compare Kim's clothing line to Boutiques including prices.....so I guess in that case prices dont matter afterall....😆😆😆🤑
And Ali seems desperate for sales I find her sales pitches to be insincere and phony...not a fav host....

Price increases are real and I have to prioritize my grocery purchases buy one thing but sacrifice something else...
One thing I MUST purchase is my cats favorite cat food, Purina Pro Plan.....just a 3.5 LB bag has increased from $5 to $7 to $10....its doubled quite a price jump....even coupons, shopping Chewey, comparing prices other places....I'm stuck....our vet recommends that food for my cats age and health condition, and my cats like it too, I won't switch to cheaper and less nutritious brand....and other good brands are about the same price ...so I pay the doubled price for cat food, but buy the cheaper store brand item of another item, or scratch something off my list all together.....
Yes eggs have increased, but it's not the only item ...ITS THE CUMULATIVE -----It's rent or mortgage, utilities, gas, clothing, health care, taxes.....Inflation is taking a big bite out of our buying power

Those saying it isn't a big deal are in essence saying they approve of inflation when it's seriously hurting other people.
With attitudes like that, there's no incentive for those who can change things to make them better, not that they want to.
