I have watched 2 hosts talk about the " cost" of things.
The host this am with Kim Gravell made a comment about how silly her husband was for complaining about the price of eggs..she adds " if you want eggs just buy eggs" what world do your hosts live in? My food prices have doubled! I can't afford QVC prices unless rock bottom clearance. Another host acted like QVC prices were cheap..30 to 50 bucks for a T shirt?? Really?

I agree with Kim's comments that if you want eggs buy eggs.  Yes they are expensive but I can cut something else out.  I just don't eat them everyday like I did a year ago.

As for the cost of the items - I take that its all a sales pitch.  It doesn't mean that the host really think its a bargain.  Its their job to make YOU the viewer believe its a deal you can't pass up.  Similar to anyone in a sales job.

The host's comment was insensitive.  However, I have to agree that at the grocery store, the cost of eggs is the least problematic price increase I've seen.  Some other things are far far more inflated now than eggs.  To me they are still a good buy even as expensive as now.

But it was a dumb remark to make on air and does show a lack of empathy.

I think it's a little bit hyperbole to say the price of groceries has doubled.  Yes, I'm spending more, but not twice as much.

What does QVC sell that is a necessity that can't be purchased more economically elsewhere?  They've never positioned themselves as a discount warehouse,  The vast majority of my QVC purchasing is impulse purchases.  I can afford it, but if I needed to tighten my belt, my Monday night shopping habit would be the first thing to go

most folks who are better off have no idea what is going on in the real world. This goes for the Gov people and your financially stable folks. They don't see it at their level.

If your SS is 700 a month and you have to pay utilities monthly and go to the grocery just to keep a little something in the refrigerator then the price of eggs, toliet paper, etc. is a big concern.

I think it all depends where your coming from in your own life. Ms. Gravel can afford to get her hair done, wear the best clothes, go for manicures and pedicures, have face treatments, etc. She doesn't see the other side of society.

@SharkE , Privilege is when you think something is not a problem because it's not a problem to you personally. I read this , this morning and it seems to fit here.

Everything costs more and I agree, when I need eggs I buy them--they are still a cheap source of protein--- but I also do alot more price comparison  for groceries these days and also much more meal planning so I don't buy needlessly---I don't have alot of expenses anymore----food is the big expense but I share that cost with my DD. We live together. I do not buy off TV much-----have enough and I agree $50 for a t-shirt is not in my wheelhouse, inflation or not !! The hosts just need to deal with what they are hawking and not into economics---

We have no idea what financial status the Gravel's are in...what they can or can't afford, or what she CHOOSES to spend her money on....which to me seems like she is working very hard for.

She lives in this world just like we do and doesn't appear to be a Hollywood Elitist...rather a hard working woman.

BTW-I get my hair done, manis AND pedis and wear nice clothes, she lives in the same world I do....and I don't appreciate the cost of eggs!!!

@Bstswm Kim said get eggs if u want them. EGGS, not a yacht.  If we pick apart everything a host or vendor says we certainly can find something to be offended by. Why do it? I do not and will not be offended by these comments trying to fill air time. Please don't let sales tactics bother u. It seems to me some people might be watching too much QVC if these things bother them so much. The price of eggs isn't great but my iincreases in my electric, garbage, water, and taxes on my home gives me a lot more to worry about.
