Last night Jane commented on her pool & summer condo at the ocean several times. Guess she doesn't have any problems buying eggs. Plus her 30% discount doesn't hurt.

Rachel just came back from a vacation trip to Paris.

I guess that's bad too.

I agree with what Ali the host said. If you want eggs buy them.  They are well worth the small amount of money they cost. As someone up post said "they are a bargain" for the protein and various uses for them. Not going to get my knickers in a knot over it.  We use grocery store sales flyers and coupons on items to plan our grocery shopping. Have not had to do without while shopping.

 Since the day I was born 60+ years ago prices on everything has gone up. Nothing has remained the same.  We have had inflation in the past, we have it now and we will have it in the future. Nothing new. We work through it.

 Hosts gotta sound upbeat about all this...and they make good salaries, but I totally get your point...NOone wants to hear "no big deal" at this point. It IS a big deal...something's gotta give. Everything is SO inflated now. It sux.

@amyb

Those saying it isn't a big deal are in essence saying they approve of inflation when it's seriously hurting other people.

With attitudes like that, there's no incentive for those who can change things to make them better, not that they want to.

I live below my means and make saving and spending carefully a priority.  I maintain a side hustle in addition to full time job.  I'm sorry if others are offended that inflation is a minor inconvenience for me.  I got laid off three times in two years as a single parent to two young children during the recession in 2008 and 2009.  It was a difficult financial time for my family and I vowed when I got back on my feet financially I'd never be in that position again.  It involved a great deal of sacrifice.  While I don't like the price of gas and eggs and aluminum foil, it's also not causing me angst.  That makes the sacrifice worthwhile.

Have all of you fussing not ever weathered a financial downturn before?  Did you not learn from it?

If your SS is 700 a month and you have to pay utilities monthly and go to the grocery just to keep a little something in the refrigerator then the price of eggs, toliet paper, etc. is a big concern.

I think it all depends where your coming from in your own life. Ms. Gravel can afford to get her hair done, wear the best clothes, go for manicures and pedicures, have face treatments, etc. She doesn't see the other side of society.

@SharkE , Privilege is when you think something is not a problem because it's not a problem to you personally. I read this , this morning and it seems to fit here.

After the State of the Union address from President Biden, I caught some interview with Kamala Harris.  In relaation to cost/inflation, she said they (Biden and herself) "get it."  That the average cost of a gallon of milk and a dozen eggs is $4.29.  Maybe in some places but around here eggs are over $8 and a gallon of milk is $5.

I will have to refrain from what I'm thinking so this whole thread doesn't get poofed, BUT...I will say, (and it proves the silent point I'm thinking)...Before inflation, some milk & eggs in my area cost more then 4.29. Now they've gone up about 40-100%, respectively.

At my local farm market, their own artisanal bread, that they make, (I realize they have to buy the ingredients from elsewhere) they used to sell for about 5.69-5.99 is now $9.95 for a small loaf. Just can't justify it anymore. I'm not depriving myself of living well, within my means, but I just refuse to pay for certain inflated items.
