Is there a reason why?

I am 150% sure, after watching QVC for decades, that when a host wears a certain outfit and/or color, it sells out FIRST before whatever the models are wearing, or anything on the rack.

Shoppers like seeing what the clothes look like on a real person who is walking, talking, moving, etc. 

Sometimes the models look a bit too posed.

I also think many of the hosts are just as attractive as the models (or even more so!).

I doubt the hosts have a choice.  As with most employees, they must do what their management requires them to do.

Imagine a stranger comming into your place of employment and telling you what you should do.  I doubt that would fly well with anyone. MYOB comes to mind in this situation.

Many times the hosts just ignore the models.  I guess they don't care as long as they get paid.  Either let the hosts model or let the models model.  The hosts get silly with running to the model's closet and changing on the fly.  More entertainment from the hosts.

0r.... both the hosts and the models can do the job that they've been asked to do and ignore such trivial complaints.
