Re: Hosts Do Make A Difference

I hate to admit that I have found the Q to be extremely boring for the past year or so. Some is due to hosts, but mostly it's the products being aired. It's a shame because it should be entertaining. Maybe I'm just getting old because I have watched HSN for over 20 years and don't even turn that on anymore unless I am channel surfing. I do love VPH and her Christmas shows, though. <3

I completely agree.  I surf thru occasionally to see what they're selling, but my buying has gone from a lot to hardly anything.

Yes I do agree with most of you. I just can't watch most of the programming any more. I do like the jewelry shows but it depends upon who is hosting the show whether I will watch it or not. I don't watch Philosophy, Wen, Matress, Garden, Electronics, Dooney and Bourke. Other people may like these shows but I just don't care for them. I do like most of the hosts and others I do not. I just turn it off.

I'm right there with you.  I rarely watch QVC anymore. There are some very good hosts - even a few of the new ones (Katie for sure).  But I just am not going to waste my time watching hosts and vendors who behave in a childish or stupid way  -  no high kicks, no booty shaking, no dancing, no stupid faces, etc.  I enjoy Carolyn when she's on - always professional and pleasant.  I don't watch those who spend their time discussing their families, even though I am sure they do it from pride, etc.  I just don't want to spend my precious time here on earth watching something (or someone) who annoys me with siliness, gimmicks or personal stories. TV personalities are not my friends or relatives - they're sales people. Nothing more.

You took the words right out of my mouth (or head) and said it WAY better than I could. I feel exactly the same. Well done! Woman Wink

Re: Hosts Do Make A Difference

I do not watch like I once did but the reason is far less complicated. I retired, do not need the things i THOUGHT I once did, money not as abundant and of course some of my very favorite hosts left. Even the silly ones had their place on air and it certainly is not worth lambasting any of them as I could not do their jobs. Like most, I had my favorite hosts - miss Kathy, Molly, Steve C, Steve B and several more a lot and having said that, even if a host was on I was not really fond of, I do not recall switching channels.
