Re: Horrible reaction to Downey Unstoppables

I see no reason to use that ,i want my clothes to just smell fresh and clean, not scented.

Re: Horrible reaction to Downey Unstoppables

Last year or so ago, I ran across a tv commercial with a baby sitting next to a regular softener and detergent.  It wasn't a baby type of product.  Haven't seen that commercial since.  Thank goodness.   Seriously, I just don't know what some product advertisers are thinking now-a-days.  (  Many, many years ago they would advertise several mild products such as Ivory Flakes or Ivory Snow,  for baby's clothing and bedding.  )   After all, babies' skin is very delicate, and lungs very tiny.  Oh, well.  'We can only say and do so much'..........

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Any type of fabric softener (dryer sheets and liquid) will reduce the ability of your towels to absorb.  That is why you see the label indicating no fabric softener.

Towels often end up with residue from soap especially if washed in cold water.  Warm or hot water will remove laundry soap residue.  I know that economically cold water is better but if you can add some baking soda with your detergent.

White vinegar will soften your towels in the rinse cycle.

Nellie's laundry soda is excellent-only need 1 Tbs. per load.  It will remove residue left from other detergents/softeners and much better for the environment.

I use it for all my laundry.

@conlt  Definitely notify Downey about your problem as others suggested.

So strange that there is a thread about this product! I used to use them in my old house and haven't used them since I lived here (3 years). I pulled out my container just the other day and have been using it and really love the scent! I just bought another scent and have been enjoying that too. I plan on using the unstoppables from now on.

I use them all the time. I like the scent, especially on the sheets and towels. I switched to Bounce beads - I think they are more concentrated.

I love the scent booster beads!

I've never had a reaction to them, which just prooves that we are all different, and what causes a reaction in one, won't have any affect on another.

Re: Horrible reaction to Downey Unstoppables

When I was a kid, I remember getting samples of stuff in the mail.

One time it was Downy fabric softener.

My mom used it in the laundry and within an hour all 3 of us, myself and siblings, were ready to rip our clothes off and go running down the street naked.

She had to rewash everything.
