Re: Hoosier help on the way to Florida

Texas

CPS Energy Crews on the way to assist with power restoration

Texas A&M Forest Service All-Hazards Incident Management Teams (AHIMT) with additional crews on standby if needed

Salvation Army Austin is sending a mobile kitchen and catering truck to serve affected people.  Prepared to transport 1500 meals each  day by mobile kitchen and 500 meals each day by catering truck.

Texas Gulf Coast Red Cross already there.

There are more on standby as Gov. Abbott signed approval of deployment of various agencies to assist Florida before the hurrican made  landfall.

Keep in mind that Florida is requesting aid resources through EMAC — the Emergency Management Assistance Compact — a state-to-state mutual aid system where the requesting state is responsible for the reimbursement of mission costs.

Regardless of which state is helping and how, there is nothing more uplifting than  seeing the unity and human compassion  during such a crisis.

Delta is up and going again to Miami and Palm Beach if you are headed to the friendly skies or stranded at an airport because of the delays.  Air traffic is moving again.  Smiley Happy

Re: Hoosier help on the way to Florida

BG&E Maryland power crews (many) left Maryland this morning.  American Red Cross (headquartered in Maryland) sent trucks full of meals, medical supplies, etc. also headed out this morning - some were headed to Georgia - their destination may change.  The Fairfax County, Virginia Search & Rescue Team (my property tax dollars at work) have been all over the world helping out with disasters and they are on their way!!

Re: Hoosier help on the way to Florida

Is nice to see people coming together to help those in need and crisis. Instead of all the devisive media hyperbole lately is refreshing to know that there are people who will lend a hand to others.....after all the hand lenders will at some point be also the ones in need some day. Thanks for posting!

THat's nice but a lot of states not affected by the hurricane are sending assistance not just one.  IT is very common to give this sort of help.

Re: a villageRe: Hoosier help on the way to Florida

A fleet of big old orange Oklahoma Gas and Electric (OGE) trucks left a couple of days headed toward the south.  We aren't in our major storm season and these guys are good!  They get a LOT of practice in Oklahoma.

Sometimes after a storm if we are without power we will look down the hill and see their searchlights and they are out there looking at and repairing the lines.  It is a comforting thing.

About three times in the last 20 years EVERY huge pole on the road down the hill has been down for about a mile.
