And where would you set up this type of housing? Your neighborhood?

I think with the kids . . . you can't just put them in any shelter . . . it has to be a family or kid only type shelter. You can't mix them with those of unknown backgrounds which may or may not include potential molesters or abusers. Some shelters, maybe they have them sectioned off . . . with so many beds allocated for families, so many beds for adult individuals, etc.
We can't take care of the ones in dire need right now. We shouldn't try to bring more into an already broken, overloaded and financially stressed "system". I would think those in the poorest urban & rural areas of our country who's children are hungry and living day-to-day and week-to-week would be Priority One . . . and then extend a helping hand to other countries . . . as it is agencies spread too thin truly fix/benefit no one.

It is about 2 miles from my house. That does not bother me. It is basically in a commercial area.In one of the 2 motels the rooms have kitchenettes, so our food bank would provide food and, once people get an address they can then get welfare and food stamps and send the kids to school.
HH, this sounds like something that could be considered in lots of town and cities where the same situation exists. Funds to do it are another thing entirely, but if people really want it to happen, they can find a way. There is way too much state and local money wasted every year by politi^cians who don't have a clue what they're doing, let alone care. They need to be voted out and replaced by people who do care. The ballot box carries a lot of weight.

Were you the poster who complained about a group home for children in your neighborhood when you were selling your home?

We let our industries go overseas, buy what we use from China, and allowed undocumented workers in by the millions. Therefore, jobs are scarce. That's the root of a lot of this.

It was a halfway home for criminals - totally different thing. And i didn't really care as I had moved already but the new owners are upset by it. Shortly after we sold our house the people next door put their very large home on the market and the state bought it for this purpose.

The county where i live is supposed to be one of the wealthiest counties in the country. Many areas of multimillion dollar homes here(in the county - not in my little town) so it would seem there could be funds made available for this.

People know it exists...but most people don't care or they think someone else will take care of it...out of sight-out of mind.

May the Blessings of generosity and enlightenment enter your heart during this Holy Season! There are homeless shelters for people and foster care for children whose parents can't or won't provide care for them.
That this person would take issue with the shelters and care given to animals who are the result of careless, inhumane people and are at least as deserving as any person or child is appalling.
What a grandstander looking for his 15 minutes, donations, and maybe even a shot at a CNN grant.
