Re: Home is where........welcome! :)

Greetings Donna!  Glad to hear you all are healthy and you survived your trip out shopping.

I went out a little more than a week ago and had a pretty good experience compared to what I had been hearing from friends.  Of course toilet paper, disinfectant wipes, lysol spray, etc. were not to be found, but I was able to get the majority of things that were needed for groceries.

I will need some things in a couple of days so will make a decision of whether to get on the list for pickup or actually go to the store when I cross that bridge.  lol

It is a gorgeous day here as well.  I was outside earlier just piddling around and taking care of a few things in the yard.  It is just nice to get outside and enjoy the sunshine and fresh air.  Of course I don't have allergies like you do so I don't pay for it later.

DH is struggling a little with his sinuses due to allergies since everything is in bloom here, but other than that we are doing well.  Just keeping fingers crossed it stays that way.

I did watch the show last night.  Was that you I heard singing?  lol

Glad to hear puppette and her family are doing well.

Guess what?  We are having spaghetti and meatballs tonight. LOL.  Looks like it will be a great night for pasta.  But no doubt, your pasta will be ten times better than mine.  Give Jersey ear scratches for me!

Hope everyone else is doing okay.  @kdgn, thinking of you and hope you are doing ok.

Good afternoon from central NY,

The weather is fabulous....sunny and mid 50s.   GAWJIS!

Hope everyone is still well and healthy. Please check in so we know you're okay.   All is well here and with our families.

I've been chatting with a different friend/family member each day.  We've all been catching up with one another.  Spoke with our ocean already.   Heart  Working my way through my phone book.   Yes, I still use an old fashioned phone book. LOL

Tonight for dinner, we're having marinated pork tenderloin, roasted green beans and couscous.  Help yourself.  I baked brownies for dessert.

When this quarantine is over,  I'm going to roll myself outside the door. All I've done is cook and eat.

As you can only imagine, volunteering is bsc.   Lots of focus on mail in ballots for November.  All my efforts are done through the phone or technology.

For anyone observing Easter, will you be able to stream church services?   I hope so.  It's not the same, but ..................

I really miss my gf, M, from Jersey.   I especially miss cooking/baking with her to celebrate our holidays.   She and I would make something for Easter and Passover.  She celebrates both in her home.   I miss planning the grocery list for making matzoh ball soup and salted toffee matzoh for dessert, https://bakedbree.com/salted-toffee-matzah   and whatever I was going to make for Easter dinner/dessert.   I miss sharing our foods.  We're going to make our holiday desserts together on skype.

Let's sit together and have a cup of tea/coffee.

Re: Home is where........welcome! :)

Dmod---We had a gorgeous day here. It's so rare to ever see the sun as we are in a valley for the most part. Yes, I'll be streaming Mass. Won't be the same but nothing is the same during this time.

Pitty, it's great seeing you more on the other site. Yay.

Moons- great seeing you too. Loved the most recent photo you posted.

Our Peebs is hanging in there.

We will get through this.....yes, we will....

Re: Home is where........welcome! :)

Whooo @Oceanjade, great to see you here!  As for the other site, guess you are talking about Facebook.  My cousin and I were laughing earlier today that you sure could tell all the people that had more time on their hands because there are a lot more people on Facebook these days.  Have to admit I spend more time there lately than I think I have in years.  LOL!

There are several closed groups of nurses that are posting on Facebook and I do like keeping up with them and what they are seeing, facing, etc.  And I have to admit there are many funny things there so I do enjoy the levity of finding some humor someplace, as well as just keeping up with everyone.

Donna, I know this has to be a difficult time for you as well, being away from your friends and your usual Easter/Passover routines.  Not to mention you are now basically stuck in your house and can't go anywhere!  sigh

Of course there just isn't much going on here.  LOL!  I do have to say we have had some beautiful weather the past couple of days.  Predicted to have possible severe storms overnight and we are now under a tornado watch.  Fingers crossed the power doesn't go out!!

I have started to make a list of a few things I am noting during this time that I think are positive.

Both DH and I think it just smells a lot better outside.  LOL!  Our neighborhood is generally really busy with all kinds of traffic.  Now, the traffic is really down to a trickle.  We just never realized how much we were smelling the carbon emissions from all the traffic until the last couple of days.

Then last night we sat outside well after it was dark.  There is not near the normal amount of light pollution so we really had a good time really looking at all the stars in the sky.  Then that moon was just incredible.

Trying to find positives where we can.

Hope everyone is doing ok.  And yes, we will get through this!!!

Re: Home is where........welcome! :)

Good evening everyone, Smiley Happy

ocean, the weather, earlier in the week,  was fabulous.  Today, there were snow showers but nothing accumulated. As the temps went up during the day, anything on the grass melted already.   I'm so pleased there are so many options to watch Mass and holy week services.

pitty, the pictures of NY, LA and other big cities, without pollution, are encouraging to see. Are you making anything special for Easter dinner?  All your smart, thoughtful posts about what our brave health care workers are facing are what we all need to read.

kdgn, how is your little man doing?  Will you be "seeing" him on Easter Sunday?  How is your pup doing?   What have you been doing to keep busy?

I've been watching lots of Yankees and Rangers classic games on their networks.  It's not the same as a live game, but it's something keeping me sane. lol

I will be sending you an update email soon.  I've got pictures of the spring flowers blooming around the house.

Jersey sends her love to all of you.  She's  keeping  me sane during this whole isolation.  She LOVES having us home. lol

Re: Home is where........welcome! :)

Need to get in here and wish everyone a Happy Easter while I can.  I know it will be a different Easter for everyone and hope that all stay safe.

This may be an Easter to remember in more ways than one.  I plan on fixing Easter dinner tomorrow.  Won't be fixing as much as I normally would, but will fix ham, deviled eggs, and a few other things.

Then I am going to put part of it in containers and place out on our patio.  DD will swing by and get the food.  The plan is then when she gets home and gets her food set up she is going to use Facebook to call and the first part of dinner we will visit "virtually"..  So we will see how it turns out.

Our church services are streamed live so we will be watching the service as well.

Today in our neighborhood the Easter Bunny came through with a police escort.  It was really cute to see.  The Easter Bunny was riding in the back of one of the city's municipal pick up trucks with a police car with lights going following.  It was great to see the kids in the neighborhood get excited.  Was really a great idea by our little area and I am sure gave the kids a little something extra in their day.

Donna, DH is watching previous final four basketball games.  LOL!  So he totally feels your pain in watching sporting events that already too place. lol

Ocean, Moons, and kdgn....hope you all have a wonderful, even if different, Easter.  But more importantly....please take care of yourself and stay safe.   Hugs!!!

Re: Home is where........welcome! :)

Happy Easter to all who observe.

I hope everyone found a way to be together separately.  We did! We skyped with everyone all day.

pitty, we've had dinner together on skype. We put the laptop on the table. We all ate together, chatting as if we were all seated around the table.  I hope you were able to do the same thing.

There were so many beautiful church services/masses streamed this Easter.  For anyone who wanted to join in, it was very easy.

Yesterday, the Easter Bunny visited around here, as well.  I waved and blew kisses. lol

I'm watching classic games and it's the only thing keeping me sane. lol  I understand mr. pitty's feelings. lol

I hope everyone has another healthy week. Take care of yourselves. Heart

Re: Home is where........welcome! :)

@Oceanjade, well text messages and phone conversations work just fine.   Happy Easter to you. I have also had a few phone coversations with friends that we normally see each other routinely.  Always good for me to be able to talk with them and just hear their voice.  Good for the soul for sure.

Donna, the Easter dinner did work out.  Pumpkin did say he really wished he could be here eating.  But he also understands the reasons why and doesn't even question it.  I have been very proud of him.  Early into our situation  in our state and before they really had shut everything down, he went with his Mom on a quick trip to Target.  Even at that point the entire aisle where they have the toilet paper, Kleenex, etc. was completely wiped clean on both sides.

He took a picture because he had never seen anything like that of course.  He called me later and told me he was going to keep that picture to show his kids some day because this would be history.  He gets it and I am so glad he does.

Glad you got to see the Easter bunny!  Did he toss you a chocolate bunny?  lol

Yes, our church has been streaming services online since this all first started and they had a beautiful service today.  So glad that we have that technology along with other services that are used to televising their service so that many people could join in.

Hope all are doing well.  Hang in there ladies!
