On the front page of the Philadelphia Inquirer today was a picture that really put things into perspective. It showed a young woman putting together an order for home delivery.

She worked in a Cafe in the Reading Terminal Market. The Reading Terminal Market is a market in center city Philadelphia. And if you have ever shopped there on a Saturday, you wish it were larger. It is probably about the same square footage as a grocery store with excellent food stands and places to eat.

Underneath the picture of the young lady it stated "...packs an order of food from the market that will be delivered by a driver to a home. On Monday the market got 4,000 orders from customers."

I can not believe it 4,000 orders. I hope they were tipped well.

Been hearing home delivery may have to cease due to harm to delivery person and bringing infection to person who ordered. Doesn't make sense since many people can't get out. Maybe there will be a "can't go or won't go" code. Crazy times.

we have not ordered any food delivered due to the same concerns. no way to know if the delivery person is free of any illness, especially this new virus. What precautions are they taking? Is there delivery car/van/truck clean inside where the food is put for travel? Do they wear gloves? I may sound paranoid....but no such thing right now....can't be too careful. Same is true for takeout. We are eating at home.

I'm well into my senior years, but haven't yet done home delivery of groceries.  My local Safeway has senior hours from 7:00AM to 9:00AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays.  Did my shopping there last Tuesday.  Came home and wiped down pretty much everything I bought with a Clorox wipe.

I had a food delivery from Peapod over the weekend. The delivery person was wearing a mask and  gloves and left my packages on the porch where I could wipe them off before I brought them into the house. Tip was left on website where I ordered. They texted me as they were arriving to let me know. It was called contactless delivery. It went so smoothly I've already set up another delivery.

I'm a senior and able bodied.  I would not want anyone touching and delivering my groceries.  I pick my produce out in a specific way (bananas - not too big, not too green/yellow, etc.)  Plus now they are touching them and I have to sanitize it.  I don't know - I like to buy my own stuff.

To tell you the truth, twice now while I was in the grocery store I saw ans instacart shopper coughing and not covering her cough. Also another intacart shopper rubbed her face and continued to look through canned goods, touching them. I pointed to her and she shrugged her shoulders. She did not care. So I am careful with groceries. I wash my hands after handling. Anyone that touched that food could have transmitted the virus.
