I just wanted to share my first experience today with HOME CHEF. Home Chef is a fresh ingredient and recipe delivery service. If you choose to subscriber you receive one box with all the fresh ingredients you need to make restaurant quality recipes.
I received a 30.00 off coupon and decided, WHY NOT.
I am not the "BEST" cook, and it is just us - two. Each meal is for TWO people and it includes everything, the meat, vegs, seasoning, everything you need but your pots and pans.
Well, I received my first box on Friday. It was packeted well, the items were cold and labeled clearly with receipe cards and a binder. Today I just made my first sunday dinner. yes, I cook early so I have the rest of the day to RELAX.
Oh my goodness, what a good experience. I really recommend this for occassional use or even regular for those who can afford it. I don't think I'll get a weekly shipment but maybe once a month. The prices for 3 meals with my discount code was 14.00.
From the reviews I read on You Tube, Home Chef is more restaurant flavored meals while Home Fresh is more general tasting and not so "restaurant" tasting. I just tasted my final product and I am "IMPRESSED", it really taste GOOD!!!
Well I just wanted to share, if you have any comments or experience with other companies please share.

We have used Blue Apron many many times. And have had some excellent meals. That is why we continue to use them.
We also tried Hello Fresh. Their meals seem a bit easier and easy to prepare.
Glad you likes Home Chef.
What I really like about them, there aren't a bunch of jars of stuff left over. My refrigerator seems to be loaded with a jar of something my husband needed for a recipe. He only needed a tablespoon of Tahini or ginger paste or you name it. And now I have jars of assorted stuff filling up the refrigerator.
These services give you exactly what you need. And great directions. We all chip in and we have a tasty dinner in no time.

Thanks, I will try Blue Apron next. Especially while many of these companies have codes to get 30.00 off.
I am very pleased, it i just us two and you can really spend a lot in ingredients and as you said after the receipe you are left with extras.
This might be my "new" thing.

I've used all three and another one called Freshly in which the meals are already cooked. I think Home Chef is the best and I'm still on their plan but I have put it on Pause. I'm on WW and can't use it right now. My husband doesn't alway like the offerings but I usually do. Hello Fresh is $69 and the other two are $59. I think Freshly was $69....that's the one where the food comes prepared already, cold but not frozen to be heated up in the oven or microwave. More like a TV dinner.
Ooh, imo, Blue Apron shrimp is awful. Taste chemical like. The summer offerings are better in that you get a larger variety of veggies. They all they longer to prepare than stated on the recipes. You will have a lot of prep dishes or bowls to wash or fir the dishwasher.

I made my second Home Chef meal for dinner today. It was a steak meal, I think I cooked the steak too long. But I rather well done then rare. Second good meal BUT I will say this....the meals aren't that big, so it is either meat and vegs or meat and starch.
So I had to add some vegs for our meal. Also I should mention the food has timeframe to cook, like 5-6 days. I wish you could order just ONE MEAL, but it seems like you need to order at least TWO meals. I went on home fresh and they require THREE meals if I read correctly.
But i have some exciting news, I went on retailmenot and they have discount codes for Home Chef, So I"m see if they work on my next order. I can afford 15-20 dollars but I can't swing 40.00.
But on the positive, it really helps you learn how to cook outside of your normal, I had never cooked roasted sweet potatoes before. I learned that, I had never cut up grape tomatoes and placed it in my green beans before, so I learned that.
It is a great gift for young married couples so they can learn to COOK.

@Happiness Is Inside JOB, I've never been able to order two meals. It had to be minimum three meals for two people. $59 for Home Chef and $69 for Hello Fresh.
Both vendors usually offer skirt steak which isn't the most tender so it might not have been your fault if it didn't turn out well.
And you're right ..... happiness is, indeed, an inside job.

Your thread pushed me over the edge! I took the plunge and subscribed to another food service company I've been eyeing for the past year or so.
Mine is through Sakara Life, it's pricey at $420/week, but I got 15% for the first week. It's a 5 day plan with all three meals and teas and alkaline water.
It's an organic plant based service, which is all that I eat.
I love to cook and cook not only for my husband, but lots of times for family also (mostly grandkids).
Sometimes I have as many as 3 different meals going at once because of finicky eaters. I don't mind---as long as I get them to eat something good!
I'm doing this service to make my life easier and it will be like eating out at a great restaurant every meal. Which can be a challenge to find one that serves my needs--organic and vegan---and tasty. I've seen some great reviews for this company. The food looks delicious.
Mine doesn't start till next Tues. I'll get a Fed Ex delivery on Tues and another on Friday.
I can't wait!

Update on my delivery service Sakara Life.
Horrible!
The meals are so bad, I've lost my appetite!
Ever have a meal and it's terrible tasting, but you eat it any way? And then every time you think about it, you actually get sick to your stomach?
Well---I had 3 meals in a row like that.
As I was unpacking the meals, I saw one and thougth 'oh boy, this better be eaten tonight, doesn't look like it's going to make it for Thursday nite'--as it was marked as such.
But instead, I ate the one designated for Tuesday. I can't tell you one thing that was in it other than 3 pounds of baby kale. The dressing was like bathtub caulk.
Then for breakfast, it was so bad, I didn't even finish it and made myself my regular breakfast (which I l-o-v-e).
Lunch was horrible, but I forced myself to eat it.
Didn't even look at the dinner container. I made red lentil soup with maitake mushrooms instead.
Remind me to cancel first thing in the morning.
One week of this food and I'll lose too much weight from loss of appetite.
