What we know right now is that "A Lebanese security official says 2,700 tons of Ammonium Nitrate led to the explosion." Apparently it had been confiscated from a ship. Should have been moved away from the city!
For a sense of scale and perspective: The Oklahoma City bombers used approx 2 tons to destroy one building.
It would be great to stop with the weird off topic spooky speculations, if we can manage to contain ourselves.

"...shipment of ammonium nitrate estimated at 2,750 tons has been present for six years in a warehouse without taking preventive measures...,” Lebanese Prime Minister Hassan Diab.
Jonathan Schanzer, senior vice president at the Foundation for Defense Democracies, “For now, this explosion appears to be the result of ineptitude.”
(Emphasis mine)

The pressure wave of that explosion is impressive, and not in a good way.
I can't imagine what it must have been like to go through that.
Prayers to all.

Well that rocket ship to Mars is looking promising....

Having watched the video, that looks like a munitions dump going up. Warheads and bombs are somewhat fire resistant in that it takes a lot of heat to detonate them. Once they detonate though, kaboom! It definitely did not look like fireworks. The initial fire was likely the shipping boxes and containers holding the munitions that burned until enough heat was generated to set off the explosives within the munitions. Putting an ammo dump in or near a big city is typically a very bad idea. This was at the port, so maybe they were receiving a shipment of munitions and preparing to then transport it, but you really want that kind of stuff to go from the ship, to a truck, to a safe ammo dump far from civilization. Storing a lot of it in one spot tends to lead to really big problems.
My sympathies to those injured and killed, but that wasn't fireworks. That had the look of an ammo dump going up and whoever was storing that much high explosives in that location needs to be held accountable.

@SharkE, are you kidding? Would you feel the same way if such a historic massive explosion with so many casualties and destruction happened here?
