Well my neighbor at least has orange outdoor lights up at her place, so I suppose it is appropriate for the time of year. But putting up Christmas decorations is a bit much. I want to savor each special day in fall as it comes. It only comes once a year why rush through any of it?

Plano (Dallas suburb):
Intersection of Preston & Park
HUGE tree w/ all the lights, garland, ornaments & packages
with a long stretch of sidewalk trees w/ those bitty-lights...
installing today!
I sat at the intersection, watching them work as
I slumped in my seat...while the A/C was cooling the
80+degree heat...and a little bit of my holiday soul was dying!
It’s gorgeous once it’s up...and I realize it’s a show-stopper
for the holidays but geeeeeze....it’s not even Halloween!
I wonder how much it costs to light all those decorations?
Has your town/city started Christmas decorating?
May we please celebrate Thanksgiving first?

Our city has a Holiday Parade the day after Thanksgiving and there are thousands of lights to be put up along the Riverwalk and in the main plaza, their will be a lot of events and festivities taking place throughout the season.....they arent up yet but wil be starting to put up the decorations real soon......
I dont mind the cost--since our city is a tourist destination and the holidays help to draw people in, and tourism is one way our city makes money.......

I updated my thread tittle to say ‘Holiday’.
Why?
There’s a huge menorah next to the tree. 😀
Once we have a clear day, I’ll take pictures (rain!).
Won’t be as pretty as @Spurt‘s post, tho’!

This thread reminds me of seeing the Interlochen Christmas Lights display in an Arlington, TX, when I lived in the Dallas area. Really a beautiful display, one that completely immerses the visitors in an enormous community of holiday decor, and wildly popular. It was such fun to experience and it took me back to when I was a little girl and my parents piled us all into the car for a drive through neighborhoods illuminated with magical brilliance. Nice memories... of my childhood and also of my days as a Texas resident. Thanks for the thread and the memories it sparked, @sidsmom!😊

@sidsmom, Oh, dear... my writing skills need work! I grew up in the Tennessee/Georgia/Alabama area and many years later moved to Texas as an adult. So, I saw the Interlochen lights in the more recent past and do wish I could revisit them. It's a wonderful display, and I highly recommend it!😊
