When I went to Japan a few years ago, I went to a wonderful museum for Hokusai paintings. I've been thinking about this particular one for the past few days. It was his view of a tsunami they had, had in Japan in the 1700's. You can almost feel the fear of the men in the boats, just about to be attacked by the "fingers" of the tsunami.

As an artist, I just thought you might like to see an artist's view of what happened in Japan. It's beautiful and yet frightening. (Be sure to notice Mt. Fuji in the background, framed but dwarfed by the wave.)

BTW, the Japanese people are some of the most generous and gentle people I've met. I so feel for them right now. But after being there, I'm sure they will bear their difficulties with introspection and grace.
