Would appreciate suggestions for hobbys that might appeal to young adult female.  Something that could be done at home.

Sewing, quilting, embroidery work, knitting, crochet, painting, scrapbooking and card making.

It's hard to suggest something and hope she would like it because all hobbies are expensive even to just buy the basics for a try and see if she likes it.

Jewelry making is pretty fun.

Candles or bath bombs?

Hot Chocolate bombs are fun to make, too!

What is she interested in? How dextrous is she? I would suggest knitting or crocheting. Minimal expense to get started and can be very creative or very simple and the items made are useful, i.e, hats, scarves, shawls, etc.

Handmade candles.  I made some many years ago, and I don't think it was expensive to start.  You can start out small and see if she likes it.  I believe they have oils now that you can make so they can be any fragrance you like.

Also, something she could sell on the side, or give-away as gifts.

The other day I made several  birthday cards for little ones in our family. I had run out of all the nice cards I had from my mother's closet

and I didn't want to go to the store so I had to try.

I'm not an "oh I love making cards" person at all but it was fun and nice to think of each person and what they would like and think when they got their card.

I think you could use these for anyone and any kind of card.

All these could be gotten online at Michaels, Amazon, Walmart etc.

Sheets of pretty paper

envelopes

all kinds of stickers

colorful markers

and if you want, some kind of curly ribbon or even that sparkly Buffalo  frosty snow.

You may need scotch tape for the ribbons or snow.

Knowing I was also making something that would make someone else happy,( I hope!) was an added plus.

Another idea is watercolors-very relaxing and encourages expression and creativity.

Mine are all doable at home.

Reading

Knitting

Crocheting

Coloring Books (very relaxing and a great way to try/test different color combinations to use in knitting/crocheting/wardrobe selection)

Genealogy (you can do a lot of this online at home) - but may have to get to the library occasionally)

How abt genealogy research ?  Genealogy is like an exciting puzzle .

The FamilySearch.org website is free  as it houses many records and  you can build your own family tree . It provides opportunities to network with people all over the country .

There are other sites which cost fees such as Ancestry.com
