People live in squalor for a variety of reasons (poor, hoarding...) but I simply can't understand not maintaining your surroundings when you have the means to do so. No, I'm not talking about total perfection (dandelions and untrimmed hedges are no big deal), but it's the trash and junk people set out that makes me question their mental state.
