Hip/Leg pain

I have a question, and I'm guessing some of you have experienced this and have an answer for me. First of all, I do plan to check w. my Dr. asap, but here goes:

I am having pretty strong pain in my hip area. Even lying in bed it gets really bad, and just turning over is a struggle. It moves down to my thigh, even when sitting down my leg hurts - doing nothing! It happens whether I am sitting or standing. Does anyone have this or have a name for it so I can narrow my google search a little? TIA!
