Ok, really have to go do my shopping.  Do have to use a riding cart.  So, it will be a while before I can get back on here to see what everyone is saying.

Have a good time.

The best part of having my knee replaced was zipping around the market in one of those carts, @ShowMe😜

I don't get pumped, buzzed or the shakes from coffee. I usually fall asleep. Go figure.

Interesting! Smiley Happy    I learned, a long time ago, that some rx meds (like pain or basic downer types) would pump me up big time.  It would be like I was speeding, but in a good way - I'd be putting the stuff under the kitchen sink in alphabetical order.    Pretty fun!  But caffeine - just made me feel icky and what I call the 'bad shakes'.   Glad others don't get that!  Smiley Happy

I can feel bad from too much caffeine (I get heart pitty-pats) but it needn't come from coffee. I have had more issues drinking two Pepsi in succession than from too much coffee. I know my coffee limit (maybe 24-28 oz) so don't go over.

Just FYI anyone, the "light roast" coffees have MORE caffeine in them than darker roast coffees.

@chickenbutt You're like my niece - if she took Valium she'd be housecleaning, do over the LR, clean out the garage, etc. You're only the second person I've heard of who is the same.

Hey Moonchilde!  Nice seein' ya, as always.  Smiley Happy

I think, for me, it is because downers make me feel GOOD.  It started as a young person in high school, living that hellish life I had at home.  I would get something to make me feel good Smiley Wink and it was just freeing!   I got to love that type of 'med' more than any kind of uppers (although I've gone there, too, in the past) because that was just such a good feeling, compared to how I always felt - bad, sad, unsafe, etc.

To this day I can take something that would put my husband (a 6'2" 225lb linebacker type) to sleep but I'm just feeling happy and good - doing things and enjoying myself massively.  Smiley Happy  Go figure!

ETA - Oops, I over-weighted him.

Hi, CB!

Years ago when uppers were the Thing, I yearned for Quaaludes/downers, because I would feel like I stuck my finger in a light socket for 12-14 hrs after I took a diet pill. To this day, taking show-your-license Sudafed will wire me for hours and give me severe sleep disturbance/waking nightmares.

I think that fairly often I'm under-medicated by doctors because so many medications are given by weight - so why assume that the dose for a 125 lb person will be equally effective for someone who weighs considerably more? But few doctors ever seem to think of that.

@chickenbutt

We've talked before about our similar  unfortunate upbringings and this is just one more thing we have in common, I'm the same way with meds.

What others use for 'downers', just made me feel more normal and happy for a change and my Drs. are still always shocked at how much it takes for me being so little (5'3", 105 lbs.).

          I agree, I love seeing new topics and good for @fleetwood for stimulating the conversation!    I think it's normal, though, to wonder when we see what @chickenbutt accurately called "thread bombing."    Also, when the topics are more like teasers and don't really tell us what the threads are about...  it naturally adds to the "what's going on?" and hard to know whether to open or whether we're interested.    I'm more inclined to open and engage in a thread when the subject line is more descriptive.    It also makes it easier to find the thread later if we want to see what else was posted, or follow up on our comments.    But that's just me -- some people like teasers.   It's nice to see activity on the forums, nonetheless.😊
