@Duckncover My mother used her pressure cooker a lot too. I was never afraid of it, but she was. As children we were not allowed in the kitchen when she was using it.
I remember when I was married and pregnant with my second child, I was in the kitchen with her and the valve didn't pop off, but the small rubber stopper must have corroded and broke down so there was a small hole on the lid smaller than the width of a pencil.
She was cooking sauerkraut and I watched in awe as strings of kraut flew out of the pressure cooker and clung to the ceiling. My mother was screaming for me to leave before there was an explosion...but I was so intrigued that I just stood there and watched.

My grandmother made the best Norwegian lefse. Recently I found something that reminds me a lot of lefse. The potato naan at my favorite indian restaurant. If you remember and like lefse and don't want to make it yourself, try potato naan for a similar taste.

not sure i have ever heard of baked oysters, but oysters rockefeller (new orleans) and clams casino (new england) are broiled and are quite popular here in maryland.

DH and I both are "born/bred" in Georgia. We never ate it but both parents and inlaws ate "Southern Ice Cream" which is buttermilk and cornbread.
Also, my dad used to ask for "sweet milk". He did that once on an airplane and confused the flight attendant. He had to rephrase and ask for whole milk.
