I just watch the heartbreaking video on the Today Show website that NBC's Richard Engel and his wife Mary lost their beautiful 6 year old son to Rett Syndrome. I cried watching the video, no child should be sick and be gone in 6 short years, no parent should have to bury a child. My condolences go out to Richard and Mary Engel, I know Henry is at peace and no longer suffering, Rest In Peace Henry.

@Jordan2 I saw that story on NBC news too and it was sad. Their little boy was precious with big ole blue eyes and now at home in the arms of JESUS.

When I saw that sweet, little boy on TV several times yesterday my heart just broke. It really hit me hard. I knew for several years that Richard Engel had a sick child and I was hoping for a better outcome. This little angel is at peace now with no more pain. May his soul Rest In Peace.

This is heart-wrenching news. It was around a year ago that I was watching something about Richard Engel, and the report included the sad news that Richard and his wife had a seriously ill child. I remember thinking that Richard has to be so far away from home much of the time for his news assignments, and I felt sorry about that. I wondered how he could manage to go forward, but he had to, of course.
Then, this tragic news arrived. I pray for comfort for the family at this time of loss and peace for Henry. Richard said he had the "softest blue eyes."

My heart broke seeing this news. Very difficult to watch and I cried knowing how this little boy must have struggled.
Deeply sad for Richard Engel and his wife and all those that loved little Henry.

In another tweet, Engel added that Henry’s cells are being used for further research into the rare disease. “Researchers are making amazing progress using Henry’s cells to help cure RETT Syndrome so others don’t have to endure this terrible disease,” he wrote.
Hoping researchers can eventually come up with a cure. So very sad for this sweet boy and the family. Can't imagine.

I taught a student many years ago who had this horrible syndrome. She was 11 years old and it was heartbreaking to see how it caused such regression. God bless the Engels as they deal with the loss of their deal little Henry. Such a beautiful boy.

In the video they showed another little boy who I have to assume is the brother of Henry. I feel so bad for this little boy, he is so young and doesn't understand where his brother, his best friend went.
