My orange cat would definintely refuse.
I'd have to stay behind with him.
@QueenDanceALot there are a couple of Twitter threads I scan quite often and one of them is in the path of Irma and has been documenting his plans. One of them spawned a hilarious thread about how to best load a cat into a crate . . . I laughed until I cried it was so funny . . . I just pray they will all be ok. I've been reading some horendous things that have been posted in the last couple of hours indicating what a complete nightmare this is going to be . . .
I need a vacation after the process of getting my orange cat into a carrier to take him to the vet. I can't imagine trying to round him up to get him out of the house quickly!
Watching the coverage is just so stressful and hard to fathom. I can't imagine how those people in the crosshairs of the eye of this storm are feeling. They most likely had no real idea what they are in for.
I pray for them all.

I don't want to threadjack but those kind of statements from someone who won't be around to carry them out is often ridiculous and hamstrings the well intended friends and family members left behind trying to be faithful to the words.

This isn't good.
"
Hurricane Irma's northern eyewall has reached the lower Florida Keys, according to the National Hurricane Center. The eye of the Category 4 storm is just 15 miles from Key West.
Wind gusts on Key West are up to nearly 90 mph, the National Hurricane Center said, and more than 400,000 people are without power in South Florida."
I hope and pray that the caretaker and cats are all safe!!!!!

We toured the house a few years ago, and I had just commented to my DH I wonder how the cats will hold up.

According to the facebook page of the Hemingway House, all cats are accounted for and are inside, with the caretakers who volunteered to stay with the cats for the duration of the hurricane.

@PredsI'm going to go out on a limb here and guess Ernest ment he didn't want the cats forever relocated away from his home in the Keys. I don't think he'd have had a problem with them shuttled to safety and then returned home after the danger had passed. Legally I would guess that a Mandatory Evac order would hold up in court if it was a " funding" issue requarding keeping the cats at the Hemingway home. Just my thoughts on the matter. I hope the cats stay safe.

I read on twitter yesterday that the Hemingway cats were moved to safety.
I am thinking that some places in hurricane-ridden FL are provided underground bunkers.
