I hope that they won't regret their decision.

Even Mariel said they should leave, and take the cats with them. If they successfully ride out the storm, they'll be celebrities for a while.

Now be mindful....the curator is staying in his separate bungalow and not at the main museum with the cats and employees. But, hey they'll all be fine in a 12 foot or whatever storm surge.

My orange cat would definintely refuse.
I'd have to stay behind with him.
@QueenDanceALot there are a couple of Twitter threads I scan quite often and one of them is in the path of Irma and has been documenting his plans. One of them spawned a hilarious thread about how to best load a cat into a crate . . . I laughed until I cried it was so funny . . . I just pray they will all be ok. I've been reading some horendous things that have been posted in the last couple of hours indicating what a complete nightmare this is going to be . . . ![]()

The late Tennessee Williams' house at 1431 Duncan St. in Key West, I hope it survives the storm also!

Ummmmmm..........I'm sure an experienced vet-tech could have crated up those cats in no time............maybe they didn't "think" of calling a vet for assistance (??)
Even the Miami zookeepers snatched up those flamingoes and brought them inside...........

Some of us have been following the updates on their Facebook page. Here's the link for those interested in seeing their photos, comments, etc.:

I do wish they had rounded up all the dear, beautiful cats and moved felines and humans to a safer locale. I don't even want to imagine what it's like to be in the middle of this kind of storm. At this point, all we can do is pray. ❤️

Hemingway said that the cats were to never leave the island and I guess they are trying to keep their word to his legacy. I would imagine that they are all in the house and the house has been closed up. Praying they all will be safe.

It's been reported that Ernest "drank a lot"............so maybe his "wishes" weren't always logical..............
