Help, please---recent questionnaire and phone calls from Census Bureau?

Has anyone else received a questionnaire and/or phone calls from the Census Bureau? I have ignored the phone calls for weeks now, as I get so many telemarketer calls, some having "tricky" names that appear on my caller ID, in an attempt to fool people.

Finally the other day I answered one of these calls from the "Census Bureau", and the gentleman I spoke to said I was sent a questionnaire form several weeks ago that was never returned. I didn't tell him this, but it probably got thrown away.

Anyhow, he tried to get me to answer questions over the phone, but I declined. I told him I would search for my questionnaire. I have been getting endless phone calls daily from these people, and I am concerned it may not be legitimate.

I told the man I spoke to that I worked for the U.S. Census in 1990 and in 2000, and I was not aware of any questionnaires were sent out any years in between. He told me everyone that has ever worked for the Census Bureau thinks they know everything, and that my household was one of many that were picked to fill out questionnaires. I assured him I don't think I know everything, I've just never heard of Census questionnaires being sent out during "odd" years.

Has anyone else received a questionnaire recently or any phone calls? If I am required to do this by law I will, but I don't want to be fooled into something that may get me into trouble.

As I said, the calls are endless.....several a day, and sometimes 3 or 4 calls in 10 minutes. Any thoughts? Thanks!
