How do I post notifications to posters with spaces between their nickname?
Thank you

Someone mentioned this to me regarding my nic but I was not sure what they were talking about. What type of notifications?

@butterfly123.....I would think that you just use the at symbol then type their name as they spell it, if that is not the answer then I don't know.

Since your nic has a space between tiny and 2 I don’t know how to post a notification.
@butterfly123 You just did it. Look at your own post above.
Or am I misunderstanding something here?

@butterfly123 Isn't that what you just did above? If this isn't the issue, I'm lost. Sorry.

Hi, @butterfly123! It's complicated and hit-or-miss posting a notification if the person has a space in their name. (I think the software shouldn't allow spaces in nicknames since it's so glitchy).
If you reply to their post, you'll see their name in the pop-up that shows when you type the "@" sign.
Sometimes, but not always, if they are posting on the same thread, even if you don't hit the "reply" on their post, you'll see them listed in the "@" pop-up.
In either of those 2 cases, you can click on their pop-up name and it works.
Unfortunately, though, if you type the "@" and the first part of a nickname, then enter a space to try and complete the name... unless the software finds it for the pop-up selection the name switches automatically to plain text and will not generate a notification.
(As an aside, remember, an "@+nickname" in plain text will not send an alert. If you tap/click on it and it doesn't redirect you to their posting profile, it didn't create a notification.)
There are workarounds and exceptions... but they're clumsy and take a lot of explanation and trial-and-error. For example, you can open another window, find a post by that person, hit reply as if you were going to reply on that thread, get their hypertext nickname with the "@", copy it, go back to the first window with the thread you were posting on, and paste their name there.
This is probably as clear as mud! Let me know if I didn't explain it well.

@ I can't get rid of the @ lol
What @butterfly123 did was quote the post and the notification is automatic. If you just want to put the poster's name, you can put the @ symbol and choose from the drop down menu. But I can't get it to work if the name is not on the drop down menu and it has a space ?
