Re: Help.......need to get past this nostalgia...

I have a few items I will never get rid of - and some things were given to DS and now handed down to GS, specifically books.

I agree also that every child should have a new stuffed animal to love.

Thank you all for your wonderful thoughts and suggestions. Yesterday, was a particularly difficult day for me. It had been a month since I lost a dear sister. When I opened that storage bin and discovered those cute "friends" (now, I must say, that last statement sounds a little crazy), I was particularly taken back with sentiment. This morning, I feel much better. I have a curio cabinet on my bedroom dresser and, have decided to set a few "friends" in the cabinet for now. Thank you again for all your thoughts.

I'm so sorry about your loss, bobcat.

Keep your mementos, I gave away too much when my mother died. I wish I hadn't.

One way I keep her alive in my heart is that I use recipes of hers for each holiday, including my birthday. It makes her a part of our lives Smile

Keep them, where's the harm? It's not like they cost a fortune to feed.

I made shadowboxes for my walls with items and photos of each person. They are with me everyday.

I know how you feel, I lost a sister at the beginning of this year (the second day in fact). I would never get rid of anything that reminded me of her. I think your decision to put a few 'friends' in a curio cabinet is a good one.

Yes, they always say don't do anything drastic shortly after a loved one has passed. Best wishes for comfort for you, and enjoy keeping your dear sister's items close to you.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).
