You need to steam clean the carpet with Natures Miracle carpet cleaner. Remember that any liquids will spread through the pad under the carpet so you need to clean an area larger than the actual stain. You could also use Oxyclean in the carpet cleaner to get the stain up and then use natures miracle. The smell won't go away unless you get all of the area clean and the enzymes need time to do their job, it can take up to two weeks.

Is there a window by the chair in that room? Is it possible they are seeing other cats out that window and are marking the territory because of outside cats?

Re: Help. Someone has been peeing behind a chair (on carpet)

This is one of the reason's that I ripped out all my carpet and put in a floating vinyl floor through out the entire house. Highly recommend if you have pets.

When I had carpet and had to deal with piddle, I invested in a carpet cleaner and would use a mixture of hot water and vinegar to su*k up the urine. Once that was done, I would soak with a urine neutralizer.

I agree that the kitties are probably trying to remark the spot. Also, it is always a good idea to find out if they have some sort of infections - which can cause this behavior. Additionally, I have four boxes in my house which makes all the difference.

Good luck.

Nature's Miracle works if it is applied immediately, but not for an area that has been soaked for quite a while.

It doesn't matter how old it is, it works. It's an enzyme product. They don't have time limits.

Boy, was this startling. When I see the word "someone" I think of a person.

I think cat, not person. I guess you're not much of an animal lover.

Nature's Miracle - the regular version - didn't work so well for me....but they also make a more heavy duty version - it's called Urine Destroyer. I got mine from Amazon - I have never seen it at the local pet stores.
