A warning means that it's possible there might be a tornado and a watch mean there IS a tornado? That's odd. Never heard it that way before.

We've had some close calls with tornados in NC in the past. In fact, many years ago one hopped, skipped and jumped all the way across our city... it hit the mall where my mother was working, and wound up on the grounds of the hospital that is about a mile away from me. It wasn't anything like the ones in the midwest, but it sure was scary and did a considerable amount of damage. A fairly bad one also hit the southern part of town a number of years ago during Thanksgiving week.
