Southern WV is wavering at 88-90 all week, which is far from normal for this area.  Our mountains and gazillion trees typically keep us way below 90.   I think 80 is hot, based on what I've seen here temperature wise, in my lifetime.

@feline groovy   Such cute kitties. How clever, to be able to

We had a cat that was crazy about cantaloupe, of all things.  Whenever we ate slice we had to put the rind (with plenty of bits of melon remaining) on the floor for him to chow down on.  It was as messy as it sounds, but so cute.

Almost everyone I know has air conditioning or fans throughout their homes.  It might be 95 outside but it's frigid in stores and restaurants.  This heat hit us earlier than usual but it's ok.  I did reschedule my nail appointment because I didn't want to be out at 2pm in the blazing heat.  Air conditioner is on and the blinds lowered.

Normally, I like our cellular shades kept up, but when it reaches the mid 80's, I pull them. We set the air conditioner to 72 in summer.

We stay in from May to October as much as possible. Shutters closed, a/c going most of the day. Arizona is actually cooler than most of the country. It's only 100 at 3 in the afternoon.

In the morning I keep the shades closed on the eastern side of the house to block the sun. Then at mid day I open those shades and close the shades on the western side of the house.  It makes a huge difference.  But I should add that they are sun and heat blocking shades, not cellular.  I have cellular on north facing windows only.
