It's 102; unusually hot for June although we had some 100-plus days in May too. Normally the 100-plus days start in July.
Saturday it's supposed to be 100, then Monday 84 then up and down the remainder of the week The past few months our weather has been all over the place.
Well here in South Texas after 2 months of 100+ degrees, we get a "cooling down" to 99 and 98 Wed, Thurs, and Friday----bring out the "coats" 😄😄😄

Just come over and bring your fur babies. I have plenty of room (and food) and whole house air conditioning.
Oh thank you. Sounds very inviting. I just got a new 5-yo golden retriever girl and she won't get into my car! Gonna have to keep her safe and cool here until this heat wave passes. Would love to come visit though!
@SilleeMee You didn't tell us you got a new dog. A rescue? You didn't post pictures of any of the things expected when a new child enters a family.
Oh Goldens are my favorite dog!!!! A friend had several for many years---such sweet dispostions---wonderful companions!

WOW!, nope---I was never called by CPS Energy but they do have that chart---"Neighbor Comparison" on the website. Now I do turn my thermostat up to 77 or 78 and watch the running of high energy consuming appliances when its near 100---but no way am I turning my A/C up to 84....I work from home so thats not fair already compared to people that work at an office and turn up their thermostat even higher.....
some people around here in my condo complex and neighborhood head north to get away from the hot texas summers, and some are college students and go to their parents so of course Im going to be higher compared to them!!! 😫 But in the winter unless theres a artic storm, I dont turn on my heater a lot nor keep it on very often so Im "the winner" then!
STAY COOL......
@Spurt We seem to manage temps the same. We're being conservative, considering the overuse of so many others. I have a friend who keeps his AC at 68-69. He has no shame about it, but then complains about the bills. Duh, I find him annoyingly selfish.
Like you, I keep my AC on 78. It's fine with a fan running during the hottest part of the day to better circulate the air. In addition to conserving energy, it doesn't overwork the AC unit. Even the best of them can only handle so much.
I also rarely turn on my heater in fall/winter. Well, except for the snowzilla we had. Luckily I kept power through that.
Stay cool, too. Supposed to be 104 today with heat index up to 107-109. Again tomorrow. We'll see how it plays out.

We do think the same---I have fan going too to help circulate the air.....and like you, I raise the thermostat to keep my bill affordable...and in check.....
And your right some don't care--- like my sister keeps her A/C set at 72 WITH her patio door open all day so her cat can go in at out at will while she's at work...SMH 🙄
And yep and my A/C guy told me---when you put your thermostat up or use the APP to turn it off and on....when its time to lower it a bit in the evening, your unit is working extra hard to cool your home off and leads to stress on your unit and repairs on your A/C which isnt cheap.....but CPS Energy doesnt care about that part of it all....SMH!!!

Yes, my new golden is a rescue. She has some serious behavioral issues. I've reached out to a trainer to help me. It has taken almost two months for the dog to come to me when I call her and there's more...just too much to discuss here. I'm working on trying to take some pics but she's not liking me with a camera...LOL!
We're stayin' cool inside. It's toasty outside and I'm not fond of hot weather at all.

@Malcontent Hey thanks for the invite. We usually take a trip to Maine this time of year. House hunting has been a bust this year...crazy prices everywhere...gas...etc...etc...so we decided to stay home...
Got some tomato and poblano plants. I have an attached greenhouse I planted the in buckets with the plan to put them outside in the gated courtyard. Gated is necessary because we have a ton of deer here and they love tomatoes and peppers.
Well with the blasted wind we've been having they never got moved to the courtyard. Still in the greenhouse and they are almost 6 feet tall...
So we are here taking care of the plants...lol...
DH has been irrigating heavily with the irrigation water taking advantage of it while we have it...
So I guess this is a summer of staying home but may travel in the fall..when the weather is cooler and less crowds...
Thx again....DW

@SilleeMee Sadly, mature rescues often come with issues. I've delt with my share of them. They have often been mistreated or have run as strays which leads to a plethora of problems. Once she begins to really trust you, things slowly turn around. Unfortunately this can take several years and a ton of patience.

I'm in Chicago too. The difference is that 90+ is only predicted for a couple of days not for months at a time like it is in the southwest. I'll take Chicago weather over 90% of the country any time--no earthquakes, tornadoes, fires, flooding, etc. etc. etc.
