I just love this story!   A couple having a baby at the hospital sent out a mass text about it to friends and accidentally sent it to a stranger also.  He and his brother went to the hospital to greet the couple (knowing they were strangers) and welcome the baby with gifts.  I love this story and even doubly so because from the photo it appears that different races are involved -- and  in the south.   Love thy neighbor for real.  The new mom said it best: "If we all only had this kind of a heart."

I love your story except for four words  -  "and in the south".  In my 81 years I have lived all over this country - the South, New  England, MidWest and for a short time in the West.  I can honestly say with some degree of knowledge that the South is far less prejudiced than many other parts of the country. I know that growing up there and currently living back in the South, that there is more love between the different ethnic people here than anywhere else I have been in my lifetime.  Perhaps your experience tells you otherwise, but I think your post would have been far more acceptable had you left out that very debatable poing.

Makes me think of the nativity and the Wise Men. I have to add this, when we were kids, turns out that my brother called the Wise Men, the wise guys. I didn't know that till years later!! He was very young.

I read the story and saw the photo...that is really something special and sweet of those guys to do.You know those men are guys with loving hearts.

@Karnerblue  Not odd if you are my age and remember before the Civil Right Act was passed in 1964, and remember the riots and some of the other things from the not-too-distant past.    Please refrain from starting a fight on this thread with such a sweet story. Thanks in advance.

Not odd at all.

Has no one paid attention to the news the last couple of years?

The rioting, and police involved shootings? The Black Lives Matter movement? The increasingly hostile relations during the current political primaries?

Many of us in our 'normal' life mix with people of different races, religions, and backgrounds with no tensions or problems, but there is a renewed rift in this country, and it is being propagated for political reasons.

I think it especially wonderful for this story to come out not only as a human interest story, but as proof that (to both sides of the issue) not everyone is caught up in the hate mongering that is stirred up (by a number of groups) and spread by the media.
