@suzyQ3 To my knowledge, yes there are still 8 states one of which is mine (and @wildcat fan ).
South Carolina has though closed their beaches, and in my city's area people are doing better with staying home/indoors. The problem is the inland/rural areas that are still going to church and big family events, etc. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure on the coast we still have those types too; but my fear is that we are about to see our rural population suffer greatly. Lack of healthcare facilities, lack of more advanced technology.....it's so frustrating when so much could be avoided.
I believe @wildcat fan is in the top part of our state (I have family there). They are in close proximity to Charlotte, NC which has seen it's fair share of cases blossoming as well.
Our SC governor has been more like "the invisible man" in my opinion. Not a strong leadership presence.
Hence my clinging to Cuomo's daily updates.

Most likely it will be a short trip with nothing to do, no place to go, just an empty beach and a lot of cold water.

@SunSprite - I am on the coast of SC - I find our Govenor doing the "disappearing" act and having his head in the sand.
While non-essential stores are being closed as of 5 p.m. today, more needs to be done. I see people all over not social distancing, chatting next to each other and more. A neighbor down the block had her son come over for the afternoon and I believe she is picking up her grandson and bringing him here. She is in/out all day long.
The Gov. really needs/should issue a mandatory stay-at-home order. I wonder if he's reading the same numbers as I am.

@riley1 Hey neighbor!
Re Governor (or lack of)......in my opinion he is over his head. I've always believed the best leaders have the best teams and I think he's been double whammied.
So much more needs to be done, you are so right. He's not stressing the severity of the illness and the ease of passing it along.....there's just no firmness or sterness there. He might as well be discussing what everyone is doing for Easter Sunday.

I thought most states make you quarantine when you cross state lines?
Not GA. Their alleged leader just found out thing thing was contagious So it mi24 hrs. ago.
So it might not be a bad idea to have a national plan instead of these state by state, town by town, decisions. We need to get on the same page.
@Snoopp Sadly, I think this is what should've been done at beginning of all of this, but unfortunately you would have had people whining about their freedom...so here we are with the most cases/deaths in the world and it's just getting started. So, I really hope it was/is worth it. You look at every other country and that is what they did and essentially got control of the situation, but letting each governor/mayor decide "stay at home" orders is simply ludacris.
So, you have "some" governors that are really taking this seriously and trying to do all they can to protect their citizens (CA & NY come to mind), then you have other governors (like mine TN, GA) who have put their head in the sand and wasted weeks! Then of course you have really bright ones like GA who thinks the beaches should be open! Insanity.
It's beyond frustrating being a citizen and essentially having no say in any of this. All we CAN do is try to protect ourselves and follow the guidance of staying at home/away from others and riding this out, but when you work it's hard to do that. MORE chances of coming in contact with the virus and it's scary, but again all I/we can do is take precautions!!...people need to remember this will pass...if they don't stop being selfish though, it 's gonna take a lot longer.

I cannot believe the bone-headed stupidity of some of our fellow countrymen and women. Staring coronavirus in the face, daring to be obstinate despite warnings, not only jeopardizes those who are dumb enough to go to the beach. They are putting the rest of us in danger and making it difficult, if not impossible, to ultimately put an end to this horror.
