Re: Having a Traditional Meal

The father should have told her that if she was so modern, then paying the bill would definitely be the new age thing to do. There is a lot to be said for old fashioned.

Re: Having a Traditional Meal

Wow! Clearly, this is a nasty person but to be that mean to her father is just so awful. I wonder if she doesn't realize she is being incredibly mean and inappropriate (doubtful), or if she revels in being nasty (most likely) and feels like it makes her look better (doesn't).

Sad. I like to think that most people who have parents who loved and nurtured them have a great deal of appreciation for that. Many of us never experienced that and would probably give up a lot to have, or have had, that.

I hope her revelation comes before he's gone - not even so much for HER benefit, rather for HIS.

WOW...she actively hates/dislikes her father.

What is her husband doing all the while she is openly disrespecting her dad? Sitting like a lump? If he had any self-respect, he'd have paid for the meal and then told her to never embarrass him like that again. Or...maybe he's as ignorant as she is and wasn't embarrassed at all.

I was wondering about her husband? He should have kicked her under the table or told to her quit her preaching and let everybody eat in peace. Why do people insist in pointing out that someone is "old" or "old fashioned." It is so rude.

P.S. Now I'm hungry for turkey/dressing/gravy!

I hope the father ordered dessert too. Smiley Wink

I don't believe a meal like the father ordered will ever go away.

This almost sounds too crazy to have really even happened.

How rude...I love traditional food...and will continue to eat it when ever I want. So tired of the food police.

I agree.

Dad should have told her it must be popular....it's on the menu! They didn't offer it just for him.

Hate to break it to her....without the 4oz of turkey, his plate was vegetarian, as well! She sounds silly.

YES! I'm hungry for it, too!

Whenever I read about situations at the dinner table like this, I ALWAYS think of the scene from "To Kill a Mockingbird" when Scout has a poor classmate at her house for breakfast. The young boy poured syrup over everything on his plate, and when Scout made a comment out loud about it and embarrassed the boy, Calpurnia got on her quick! I laugh just thinking about it. {#emotions_dlg.laugh}

Re: Having a Traditional Meal

I would love to hear her side of the story and why she is misdirecting all her anger towards what her dad eats. There may be a lot more to this story and why she behaves the way that she does. For all we know, he may not be healthy and she is tired of him eating a bad diet.

I would think this has little to do with what he is eating and everything to do with some kind of problems with their relationship.

I reserve judgment until I knew more about the relationship. We are only hearing his side of the story. A lot more may have transpired.

I do think she was rude, however.
