i know it sounds like those buyers on HGTV house hunter shows but my DH and i both said if a house has gas FP we didn't want it.

I hear ya ! When we were planning our house, the stone fireplace was a must as was a very wide stone hearth that spanned the entire width of the room - that is where people always want to sit!

We just got gas logs last week, so yes, I just grab the remote and have a fire!
