That's the question...

In 1981, Mary appeared to six Herzegovinian children in Medjugorje, Bosnia and Herzegovina and still appears each month. I find the messages inspiring. There is so much negative stuff going on these days and it can be overwhelming sometimes. This particular line in yesterday's messages really hit home for me.
"...children, do not permit that the wind of hatred and peacelessness rule in you and around you."

Love the quotes from Maya Angelou...
Two that I appreciate:
”Love is like a virus. It can happen to anybody at any time”
”Never make someone a priority when all you are to them is an option”

From a Dostoevsky book I read:
"Do not say, 'I don't give alms because I have so little.' God sees the meaning of the heart, not the size of the gift. Therefore, measure your alms as God measures you. Though your contribution may be small, God will not forget it."

"Every moment is a fresh beginning."

Here's another one, and it's just fun. This was a long, narrow sign on the outside of a tobacconist shop that we used to drive past when I was a child. My father always loved this sign, and I memorized it, as the shop was on the corner and we would often get stopped at the red light.
The language is as it appeared on the sign, including the speaking patterns of the period in which it was written. To this day, it reminds me of my father.
"You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him drink;
Surround a fool with wisdom, but you cannot make him think.
You can show an ingrate kindness and get injured for your pains;
You can dress a dude in fashion but you cannot give him brains.
You can bring the rich to justice but it takes a lot of time;
While the poor man goes to prison, the rich one pays the time.
If you study human nature, you'll find freaks of every strain;
Some you see excel in stature, others great with nerve or brain.
You'll find lots of fault to criticize - perhaps some traits to praise;
But it's just as nature made us guys that explains our funny ways.
Don't get too close to a buzz saw or tickle a mule that's tame;
Don't give advise to those in love, or bet on another man's game."
I researched the provenance of these verses, and they first appeared in an Oklahoma newspaper during the 1930s.

@Mombo1That second quote from MA was the answer to a cryptoquote recently. I'm sure I'd seen it previously but it happened to hit home for me that very day. Means I'll never forget it! She was such a wise woman.

Saw this on Instagram last week and thought it was worth remembering:
In life, it’s not where you go, it’s who you travel with.
