I don't know how neighborhoods were able to have block parties because an entire block would be blocked off. The activities and games and whatever else we did was literally done in the street. This was in the Dallas area in the '70s. Lining the sides of the street, was tables with every iconic'70s dish you could think of plus dessert.
My brother and I and our friends would crawl under the streets and catch crawdads. I don't think you could pay me enough now to hold a live crawdad. I saw the yard that I used to play football in. That house had five boys in it. I'm pretty sure I was the only girl that played football with the boys. I was a 1970s version of Kansas City Chiefs Isaac Pacheco. If you know you know... at least that's how I remember it (g).
There's no one left in my immediate family that can add to my memories 😔. My memory is not so great but when I looked up the houses I lived in with my parents, memories started coming back little by little but there are holes I will never be able to fill because no one's left. Well dad is still here and if he could verbalize I think he could remember quite a bit but he doesn't say much of anything. What I would give to go to one more football game with him.
